Choosing the Right Greenhouse Design

Choosing the Right Greenhouse Design: When a person has a greenhouse, that means that one must never stop gardening just because of weather conditions. You can continue to multiply cuttings and seeds and plant several varieties of plants in any season. When choosing a greenhouse, choose a greenhouse style that matches the design of your home and the layout of your garden. Weather conditions must also be taken into account, because when your area experiences heavy snow during the winter, you will most likely not choose a flat or straight roof design, but a roof that will allow snow to slide easily.

Choosing the Right Greenhouse Design
A standard free standing with curved roof greenhouses or peaks to date is very popular which can be found in many gardens. Rectangular or square shapes allow maximum growth space for plants, usually designed with benches on the side and behind.

Greenhouse designs that are connected to houses or walls are installed and used when space is limited in the backyard. This greenhouse design is very accessible and convenient for connecting water and power supplies that are very much needed. When choosing a particular design on the market, "the sky is the limit". Small solariums with a variety of designs are widely available, medium and large sized greenhouses, and even prefabricated greenhouse kits for easy installation.

Here are some greenhouse designs:

1. A gable greenhouse.
This type of design is usually attached to a wall or garage or any structure that uses only half of the actual gable design. In general, this type has a flat roof panel but slightly tilted and vertical sidewall. Sometimes, a gable type greenhouse is also attached to another greenhouse that uses the end wall rather than the side wall.

2. Warehouse-style greenhouses.
This type of design, as the name suggests is shaped similar to a warehouse that has a wide roof and interior and with shorter walls. This design is usually included in a country park setting or theme or attraction of a rural park. This greenhouse design can be attached to another greenhouse or can be built beautifully in a free-standing park.

3. Dome greenhouses.
This design is identical to the dome, meaning half a ball and placed directly on land. This design cannot be attached to the structure and can only be built as a stand-alone type of greenhouse, because this design does not have a side wall. This type of greenhouse is rather expensive to make because of the many different glass pieces that are generally needed to complete this design form.

4. Gothic-style greenhouses.
This type of design has a very historical gothic appearance. Walls and roofs are formed in such a way as to create a sustainable shape, allowing snow to fall easily. This type of design can be installed or stand alone, but it is usually not recommended to install unless your home design is very similar to a gothic design.

5. Hoop greenhouse.
This type of design is built with metal or PVC pipes to make a circular shape and then covered with a plastic cover. This type of design is very cost effective for your initial purchase, but maintenance for continuous replacement of plastic (plastic) can actually increase.

One will find that most greenhouses are made of aluminum which is weather resistant and lightweight. Galvanized steel is also sturdy and lightweight. Wood can also be used, but one has to make sure to use pressure wood such as red wood or cedar because it is weather resistant.
Regarding whatever greenhouse design you have to decide, be sure to look for structures with the highest strength and stability and must have these features:
  • It will be a cable to bear extreme weather conditions, such as strong winds and accumulated snow.
  • Must have the support needed to grow lights, sidewall racks and hanging baskets.
  • It should have complicated details because it has storm insulated door hinges and large or individual roof vents.
  • A wide selection of styles and sizes are offered. Remember that costs can limit the size of your greenhouse, but later extensions can be added when needed and when you already have enough budget for it.
  • The door can be easily adjusted to be dropped or lowered to the foundation hole so as to get rid of elevated steps when you feel that it is needed.
Note that often, most greenhouse owners complain about limited space when they build their greenhouses on a limited budget. So whatever design you choose, remember to get the biggest that your money can buy.
